Purpose, product and commercial model
Inside Car Counting.
Car trader accounting and stockbook software
Car Counting is a specialist software proposition for vehicle traders who need to understand stock cost, preparation spend, margin and cash tied up in every car. The product is intended to replace general spreadsheets with vehicle-level purchase, repair, advertising, sale and profitability records, supported by simple reporting for the wider business. Its advantage is vertical focus: the workflow starts with cars in stock and the costs that accumulate around them, rather than forcing a motor trader into a generic small-business accounting interface.
Who the business serves
Small UK motor traders, car flippers and independent dealers are the initial customers. Their problem is keeping purchase records, receipts, repair costs, adverts and sale invoices together while understanding the real result on each vehicle. Motor-trade accountants are a second audience because cleaner records reduce the work of reconstructing a trader's stock and transactions.
Product and operating model
The planned core is one stockbook record per car, linked to purchase and sale details, recovery, repairs, preparation, advertising costs and supporting documents. A trader should be able to record a purchase, attach receipts, create an invoice, mark a sale and export a period for accountant review. Vehicle-level profitability and holding-time reporting give the software a practical daily role. VAT margin support is a record-preparation feature; it should be reviewed with the user's accountant.
Intended revenue streams
The commercial model below describes the intended ways this business can earn income. It does not represent verified sales, customers or recurring revenue.
- Trader subscriptions
- Recurring plans differentiated by active stock, reporting needs and team access.
- Accountant and dealer plans
- Professional access for multiple clients, larger stockbooks and business reporting.
- Optional software modules
- Later paid tools for advert writing, valuations, public stock pages and website or stock-feed connections, once the basic record workflow is proven.
Development intentions
The plan starts with a dependable stockbook and accountant export. Valuation intelligence, sourcing calculators, repair workflows and wider dealer-management connections follow paying-user evidence. This keeps the initial product focused on a painful administrative task while retaining a route into broader motor-trade software.
